Need A Good Laugh?

This has nothing to do with shoes. I just thought it was funny.

During a visit to a mental hospital, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which decided whether a person should be institutionalized.

"Well", said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, and then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the person and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," saith the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup and would complete the task most efficiently."

"No," said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?

The Magnificent Mile and Flat Feet Don't Mix

Back in my single days, my cousins and I would plan several trips a year. It was nothing for us to hop in a car and drive to Chicago for the weekend or fly off to Jamaica for 8 days of mind melting relaxation. Since the Magnificent Mile frequently invited us to visit, we did our best to accept her invitation as often as we could.

We would hit our regular spots The Water Tower, Crate & Barrel and Macy’s. After you do all that walking you’re totally exhausted, unless you’re in great shape. I remember the ladies decided we would head to Bloomingdale’s and call it quits. My feet were literally killing me. I even had on tennis shoes. I told the ladies, I felt like I was walking on knubs (I'm not even sure that's a word). Needless to say, I only made it to the lobby and found a seat. My flat feet were partly to blame for the pain. So here’s some helpful information for those of you in the “Flatfoot Club”.

Flat Feet (Pronated Feet)

Your foot doesn’t have a normal arch, which means your foot strikes on the outside of the heel and rolls excessively inward. This causes extra stress on your feet. According to research, approximately 65% of the population are flatfooted, either from obesity, arthritis, foot trauma or genetics.

If You Have Flat Feet:
-Stability is most important. Look for shoes that provide good arch support.
-Look for a shoe with a durable heel.
-A beveled heel and a durable carbon rubber outsole are best.
-Steer clear of lots of cushioning. It will only intensify instability and cause your feet to continue to roll inward. Look for firm midsole material like polyurethane that adds stability.

Helping Your Teenage Daughter Put Her Best Foot Forward?

I know most of you are tickled pink that you’re children are back in school, but I’m sure you feel like some shady thief has siphoned every dime of your hard earned money. According to research by the National Federation, approximately 68% of parents say that kids will influence at least half of back-to-school spending this year.

Of course teenagers want to look their best, particularly teenage girls. What’s interesting is retailers are aggressively using the Internet and television to target and appeal to teens. Since you’re reading this blog, more than likely you have a teenage daughter who just might wear a size 10 or 11 shoe. Not only is she concerned about her clothes, but it’s also important that she finds cute, trendy shoes in her size.

Since I’m not a mother of a teenage girl, I miss out on all the joys of discussing clothing choices, hairstyle choices, boys, etc. In my opinion, I think moms don’t take enough time to make sure their daughters are dressed appropriately. I’m sure many parents just cave in allow their daughters to dress like Video Vixens. Some mothers are just too tired to fight so they silently throw their daughters to the wolves. I say, just because it’s in the store doesn’t mean you have to buy it or allow your daughter to buy it.

As women, we need to model true beauty which is inward. Somewhere, we have lost respect for ourselves and we have let society perpetrate this disrespect in every conceivable way. We certainly need to help young women see their worth and value. Ok, I ‘m done with my sermonette for today.

Looking for shoes for your teenage daughter in larger sizes doesn’t have to be a hassle. Here’s a way for you and your daughter to spend a little quality time together: Go online and shop for shoes that you both can agree on at the following online shoe stores:

How To Know If You're In Denial About The Size Of Your Feet

I don't know about you, but I love a good laugh. Humor is truly the best medicine for whatever ails you. I was just thinking about some of the funny, crazy things we full-footed women do. I hope you enjoy. You should definitely send this to your sister, mother, cousin or friend if she insists she wears a size 10 1/2, but you and the whole world knows, she clearly wears a size 11.

1. If your toes drag the ground when you wear your sandals...Go Ahead And Ask For The Next Size Up. It's OK.

2. If you continually ask for & buy the same size shoes then complain they're too tight...Go Ahead And Ask For The Next Size Up. It's OK

3. If all of your shoes have corn imprints and the toe of your shoes are starting to split...Go Ahead And Ask For The Next Size Up. It's OK

4. If you still can't walk, without grimacing, from the end of your bed to your closet...Go Ahead And Ask For The Next Size Up. It's OK

5. If you think you're a Geisha and you practice binding your feet so they won't grow any larger, Stop It!... Just Go Ahead And Ask For The Next Size Up. It's OK

Looking For Large Size Shoes?

Here's an article I thought you'd be interested in:

The Quest For Large Size Women's Shoes

If you wear a size 10 or larger shoe, you have probably experienced challenges in finding styles that will fit your feet. Shoe stores will often carry a very limited supply of large size women shoes, and often styles need to be special ordered. Department stores generally don't carry sizes larger than 11. However, retailers are slowly coming to the realization that women's feet are getting bigger. Soon, the quest for large size women shoes may be a distant memory.

In the past, shoe buyers were reluctant to buy big inventories of large shoe sizes. This made sense as the average woman wore a size 6 or 7. Women with larger feet were forced to choose from a few unflattering styles if there was any availability at all.

These days, large size women shoes sell quickly. The most commonly purchased size is now an 8 1/2, and over 30 percent of women are buying shoes in a size 9 or above. Because of the demand, retailers are scrambling to fill their racks with shoes sized up to 14.

Along with the retailers, shoe manufacturers are paying attention to the growing size of women's feet. High-end shoe designers, such as Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik are creating their styles in sizes up to 12, and sometimes higher.

The online retailers have taken this trend to a new level by developing virtual stores that solely cater to large size shoes. A woman can now choose from hundreds of styles that are readily available in her size. Along with being able to shop from the comfort of home, many of these online retailers offer top notch customer service, free shipping, and lower prices than those at traditional stores.

This new availability is certianly a welcome relief for every woman who has struggled to find a pair of flattering, large size shoes. While once the selection of sizes 9 through 14 was a few orthopedic looking styles on a shoe rack in a department store, now the choices are plenty.

The development of the large shoe market seems to grow every day. Retailers and manufacturers know that there is money to be made in big shoes, and they will be increasing the number of styles available because of demand. So, the quest for large size shoes may soon be over, and women with big feet will be the winners in this fashion battle.
