Since February is Black History Month, I thought I'd highlight an up-and-coming African-American Shoe Designer to commemerate the contribution African-American shoe designers make to the fashion industry.
Etu Evans, shoe designer to the stars, is a creator of luxurious footwear. He's earned the nickname, Harlem Blahnik. Now if you know your shoes, you know that a comparison to Manolo Blahnik is quite the compliment.
Etu lauched his shoe line in 1998 while studying shoe design at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. He also ran a shoe repair shop in Harlem that became custom-design business.
Evan's one-of-a-kind designs began attracting celebrities including Tyra Banks and Halle Barry. His boots began selling for more than $2,500.00 a pair.
While he enjoys designing gorgeous shoes, Evans has time to solicit shoe donations for his foundation, Solesville. The foundation gives refurbished shoes to inner-city residents seeking their first jobs. Shoes are also shipped to young adults in the Carribean and Africa.

Oxygen has many beautiful options and features!!! I’m adverse to such a narrow column for writing though so I’m not sure it would be right for me.
I look forward to seeing how it looks on the blogs that adopt it.
